With 6,667 inhabitants Argamasilla de Alba is the nearest town to the Estate, nestled in the flattest part of La Mancha plateau. This town of farmers devoted their efforts to the cultivation of cereals, melon and grapes with which our excellent wines are produced.

Argamasilla de Alba lives driven by its two main symbols: the Guadiana River, which has conditioned its habitat and its economy, and Don Quixote, who encouraged their culture and traditions.

San Carlos del Valle, or the people of "The Christ" as it is also known in the area, is nestled in a valley, as its name suggests, and to approach to it means going slowly, gradually observing their appearance on the horizon, it gives the feeling to emerge from the very bowels of the earth and the hills that flank the town.

The phenomenon, or the miracle is even greater when we finally get to the town center, as far as its famous square or the singular Church of the Holy Christ of el Valle.

f villanueva

Village of a Roman settlement, we can find in the streets the robust and timeless architecture of the monuments that remain today. Remains of two Roman roads, Roman Bridge "Treviño" and a viaduct are preserved.

In the early fifteenth century This city was without doubt, the spiritual focus of La Mancha in the Golden Age, snatching Alcaraz hegemony maintained during the Renaissance. Figures of Santo Tomas de Villanueva, humanist Jimenez Paton, artist Francisco Cano or universal Quevedo, Cervantes and Lope, along with the celebrations held here, bullfights since 1630 and comedy theater, helped make it important cultural center.

f almagroALMAGRO

Strolling through the streets of Almagro, civil capital and center of religious power, invites to plunge into his past, in the grandeur of its churches and convents, or the perfect trace of its Barrio Noble unchanged.

But in reality it is a town that has played during this century a major role as a clear cultural reference of La Mancha, especially from the theatrical perspective, thanks to its International Classical Theatre Festival.

f lasolanaLA SOLANA

It is located in the region of Montiel, a fortress with watchtower of Muslim origin likely occupied the present Plaza Mayor and Church of Santa Catalina, fortress property of Maestre Fernández de Castro who bequeathed to his death at The Order of Santiago.

In contrast, population origins of La Solana relate to shepperds of the counties of Soria (1283), which, after the reconquest took down the cattles to the warm southern lands by the Cañada Real Soriana, which is situated a few kilometers from town.

Over the time, these settlements became permanent, leading to the first origin of La Solana, which was to grow and evolve at same path as the Military Order of which he took part. La Solana was the largest core manufacturing for sickles. This activity is no longer the main one due to the development of new technologies.

At about 14km from the small town of Ruidera, we find the Cave of Montesinos. A large cavity caused by water erosion where were found archaeological remains of great value. Served as a den or shelter for cattle herders who once had no shelter.

Reference to the cave of Montesinos may be found in the pages of Don Quixote, where some of the passages take place in such a famous book.
